  North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Youth Ministry

Our Purpose Statement

“Adopted from Presbyterian Youth Connection”

“As youth and adults we respond to God’s call through the Holy Spirit to be connected to each other through fellowship events, to be connected to the church through Bible study and prayer, and to be connected to our world through mission and outreach, so that our lives proclaim with joy that Jesus Christ is Lord.”

Programs

Sunday Night Live

Sunday Night Live is our Sunday Night Youth Program.  We are so excited about the many opportunities that are available for our youth (grades 6-12) through this program.

In this program youth will receive a copy of the youth devotional magazine, Youth Walk, which is published by Walk Through The Bible Ministries.  This magazine has a devotional for every day of the week and is sent to the home of the student every month.  Each week of devotionals is designed to address a particular topic that relates to issues that teenager’s face today.  Then on Sunday, our Youth Advisors lead a short discussion on the topics the students have been reading about all week.  This program helps teenagers develop the habit of daily Bible reading and prayer as well as providing great follow through with what they have been reading all week.

Our Sunday Night Live Programs are always full of good food, good fun, and meaningful topics of discussion!

In Youth Ministry nothing is “Typical.”  We usually don’t do the same things Sunday Night after Sunday Night but, below is a sample of what a typical  Sunday Night Program consists of:

Typical Sunday Night Live Schedule

6:00 PM- Fellowship Supper (Youth and Youth Advisors)

6:45 PM- Announcements (Upcoming events, etc.)

6:50 PM- Sometimes a silly game

7:00 PM- Sr. High and Mid-High Group Times

7:30 PM- Time to Go

Curtain Call

Curtain Call is a Wednesday afternoon or evening program for youth grades 6-12.  We meet at two different times on Wednesdays and at 5:00 PM on Sundays to allow participants ample opportunity to participate.  Our first rehearsal on Wednesday is at 3:30 PM and the second rehearsal time is immediately following our Kirknight Fellowship Supper at 6:30 PM.

Curtain Call is a program that involves creative ministry through puppets and drama.  This is a new program and currently we are addressing the area of Puppetry!  Our puppet team has just created a name for ourselves and we are now known as “Presbyterian Puppet People” or P to the power of three.

This year we have planned Twenty skits.  We have performed skits for Ebeneezer Children’s Home, Wilkes Regional Medical Center, Wilkes County Library, Wilkesboro Elementary School, and for Children’s Sermons at our church.

The purpose of this ministry is not only to provide a great learning tool for our youth but also to equip our youth to share the truths and love of God with children and adults alike through the world of puppets and drama.
